Bring the Records
Keep vaccination records, current medicines and relevant previous test results together. Bring any school or child care forms and explain their deadlines when arranging the visit. The office can tell you whether a particular form requires a separate examination.
Write Down Family Questions
Questions may concern sleep, eating, growth, development, behavior or experiences at school. Concrete examples help the clinician understand what you have noticed. Mention any change that affects everyday life.
Review Vaccinations Individually
Ask the clinician to review your child's vaccination history against the recommendations and requirements that apply to them. Recommendations can depend on age, health conditions and previous doses. An old flyer or another child's record is not a substitute for that review.
Before leaving, ask what follow-up is needed and how to obtain completed forms or results. See pediatrics for clinic care information.
