Antelope Valley Community Clinic

Mental Health

Support for emotional well-being, difficult experiences and changes in daily life.

Feeling persistently overwhelmed, anxious or low can affect work, family relationships, sleep and everyday activities. A mental health visit provides time to discuss what you are experiencing and consider a plan that fits your needs.

Reasons to Seek Support

  • Persistent sadness or anxiety.
  • Grief, loss or adjustment to major life changes.
  • The effects of past trauma.
  • Relationship difficulties.
  • Concerns about self-esteem or coping.
  • Emotional or behavioral changes that interfere with daily life.

What an Initial Visit Can Include

An evaluation may cover your symptoms, when they started, your health history, current medicines, sources of stress and the support available to you. The clinician can discuss treatment needs and whether outpatient counseling, psychiatric evaluation or another level of care is appropriate.

Counseling and Coordinated Care

The clinic's mental health program has included individual therapy with licensed clinical social workers or psychologists, relationship counseling and connections to community resources. Coordination with primary care or specialty clinicians can help when physical health, medication and emotional well-being overlap.

Ask about the clinician's approach, appointment arrangements, confidentiality and how progress will be reviewed.
