Antelope Valley Community Clinic

Pain Management Education

Education can support a plan for living with persistent pain.

The clinic's published event listing described a pain management group focused on behavioral and lifestyle approaches. Its purpose was to help participants discuss practical ways to manage pain and improve daily functioning as part of a broader care plan.

What to Discuss With Your Care Team

  • How pain affects sleep, movement, work and daily activities.
  • What has changed and which treatments have already been tried.
  • Possible goals for function and participation.
  • Whether education, rehabilitation or specialist assessment is appropriate.
  • How treatment will be reviewed over time.

Education Alongside Clinical Care

A group program is not a substitute for investigating a new or changing symptom. Medication, activity and other treatment decisions need to be individualized. Do not stop or change a prescribed treatment because of a general class description.

Participation Information

Ask the clinic whether a relevant group or program is available, who it is intended for and whether a referral is required. Old statements about free classes or unrestricted attendance should not be treated as current enrollment information.
