Cialis (Tadalafil)

Daily or as-needed treatment, selected around your symptoms and health.

Cialis contains tadalafil, a prescription medicine used for erectile dysfunction and the urinary symptoms of an enlarged prostate. For erection difficulties, it can be prescribed as a low daily dose or taken before sex. The right schedule depends on the reason for treatment and your health.

At AV Community Clinic, we assess your symptoms, choose an appropriate prescription and help you purchase your medication through a participating pharmacy. We explain the difference between daily and occasional treatment, review any other medicines and follow up on both benefit and side effects.

Never combine tadalafil with nitrates, recreational nitrites or riociguat. Its effects last longer than those of some other erection medicines, so interactions remain important after the day you take it.

What Cialis can treat

Tadalafil is a PDE5 inhibitor. For erectile dysfunction, it helps increase blood flow to the penis during sexual stimulation. It supports an erection response without creating continuous arousal or increasing sexual desire. An erection still depends on stimulation and should settle normally afterward.

Cialis can also treat urinary symptoms associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia, or BPH. These may include a weak stream, difficulty starting and frequent urination. Urinary symptoms need assessment because an enlarged prostate is not their only possible cause.

Some men have both erection difficulties and bothersome urinary symptoms. Tell us about both during your consultation. A daily tadalafil prescription may address both concerns when appropriate, but the decision still depends on your examination, health history and other treatment.

Daily treatment or a dose before sex

A daily prescription is taken at approximately the same time each day, whether or not you expect sexual activity. For erectile dysfunction, the usual starting daily dose is 2.5 mg and may be adjusted to 5 mg. For BPH, or ED with BPH, the usual daily dose is 5 mg.

As-needed treatment commonly starts at 10 mg before sex, adjusted according to benefit and tolerance. It is usually taken at least 30 minutes beforehand and no more than once daily. The daily and as-needed schedules are alternatives, not instructions to add an occasional higher dose to your regular tablet.

We discuss how often you want treatment, whether planning doses is convenient and whether urinary symptoms are part of the problem. Do not change from one schedule to the other yourself. Your prescription needs to state which routine you should follow.

Understanding the longer period of activity

An as-needed tadalafil dose can support the erection response for up to 36 hours. That describes a period in which arousal may lead to an improved response. It does not mean an erection lasts for that time or that every attempt will be successful.

The longer duration may reduce the need to plan sex closely around a tablet. It also matters for side effects and interactions. A medicine does not stop affecting your body simply because the planned sexual activity is over or the calendar date has changed.

Tell us if you want a shorter period of activity or if you are considering tadalafil because another medicine felt too time-sensitive. We compare practical differences with your health and preferences in mind rather than assume that longer is always better.

Cialis price and purchase

Tadalafil 5mg 30 tablets starts at $33.99. This is a generic tadalafil price rather than a branded Cialis price. The listed price covers medication only and doesn't include the cost of doctor visit. We confirm the prescribed product, quantity and final medication cost before purchase.

Your consultation establishes whether tadalafil is appropriate and which schedule to use. After prescribing, we coordinate your medication supply through a participating pharmacy. Tell us if you have a product preference or a budget concern so we can discuss it before the prescription is finalized.

If you are already taking tadalafil, bring the prescription details and explain whether it is for erections, urinary symptoms or both. We review the reason for treatment as well as the strength. The same ingredient can have different instructions for different conditions.

What we review before prescribing

For erection difficulties, we ask about onset, consistency, previous treatment and any other changes in sexual function. We review blood pressure, medical history and medicines. Depending on the findings, we may arrange an examination or tests to assess an underlying concern.

For urinary symptoms, describe your stream, urgency, frequency, nighttime urination and any discomfort. Tell us about blood in your urine, infections or difficulty emptying your bladder. These details help determine whether a prostate assessment or another investigation is needed before treatment.

We also ask about chest pain, fainting, heart conditions, kidney or liver problems and relevant eye or hearing conditions. Share recent records if you have them. Online consultation can begin the assessment, but it does not replace an examination when one is needed.

Taking tadalafil correctly

Tadalafil can be taken with or without food. Follow the schedule on your prescription and do not take extra doses because you are planning sex. If you are prescribed daily treatment, allow us to review the response before deciding that the dose needs to change.

If you miss a daily dose, follow your pharmacy instructions or ask for advice. Do not double up or take an additional as-needed tablet. If you use tadalafil only before sex, there is no daily missed dose to make up.

Check the strength when you receive a refill, particularly after changing schedules. Keep the tablets in their original packaging and do not use a different tadalafil product from another prescription alongside them. Contact us if the directions on the pack do not match your understanding.

Following urinary symptoms over time

When tadalafil is prescribed for BPH symptoms, we review the changes that matter in daily life. Tell us whether starting urination is easier, the stream has improved and nighttime trips are less disruptive. We also ask whether you still feel that your bladder is not empty.

Improved symptoms do not remove the need to investigate a new warning sign. An inability to pass urine, especially with lower abdominal pain, needs urgent care. Fever with urinary symptoms, visible blood or significant pain also warrants prompt medical attention.

Other prostate treatments may be appropriate depending on the findings. Do not add an alpha-blocker yourself because urinary symptoms persist. We review the combination and the original diagnosis before changing treatment or recommending a specialist assessment.

Interactions and medicines to avoid

Tadalafil must not be used with nitrate medicines or recreational nitrites. Riociguat is also incompatible. Some alpha-blockers, blood pressure medicines and medicines that affect tadalafil breakdown need careful review. We need the exact names, doses and how often you take them.

Do not combine tadalafil with Viagra, Levitra, Stendra or another PDE5 inhibitor. A daily dose means the medicine is present between sexual encounters, so adding another erection product on a day that feels unsuccessful can still cause an interaction.

Tell every prescriber and pharmacist that you use tadalafil, including when it is occasional. Ask us before starting a new antibiotic, antifungal or other medicine. If a prescription changes, do not assume that separating doses by a few hours resolves the problem.

Chest symptoms and cardiovascular care

We consider whether sexual activity is appropriate for your heart health before prescribing an erection medicine. Tell us about breathlessness, chest discomfort, recent heart attack or stroke and any restriction placed on physical activity. New symptoms deserve assessment even when an older prescription worked well.

If chest pain occurs during sex, stop and seek emergency help. Do not self-administer a nitrate after tadalafil. Tell the emergency team the dose and time of your last tablet, including a daily dose that you took without planning sexual activity.

The tadalafil prescribing information allows nitrate consideration only in a life-threatening situation after at least 48 hours, under close medical supervision. That is an emergency clinical decision, not permission to restart your own nitrate at home after a timed interval.

Possible side effects

Headache, indigestion, flushing, nasal congestion, back pain and muscle aches can occur. Tell us whether symptoms follow each dose and how long they last. We can assess whether a different dose, schedule or medicine would be more suitable.

An erection persisting more than four hours is an emergency. Sudden loss or marked reduction of vision or hearing also needs urgent attention. Stop treatment and do not substitute another erection medicine while seeking care.

Heavy drinking can increase dizziness, rapid heartbeat and low blood pressure with tadalafil. Be honest about your usual alcohol intake so we can advise appropriately. If you feel faint, avoid driving and seek help when symptoms are significant or persistent.

If tadalafil is not meeting your needs

The next step depends on whether the problem is erection response, urinary symptoms, side effects or the daily routine itself. Tell us what has improved and what remains troublesome. A dose change is only one possible response and should follow a review.

We can discuss another erection medicine when appropriate, or a different approach to prostate symptoms. If the main concern is reduced desire, early ejaculation or pain, we assess that separately rather than expect tadalafil to address every aspect of sexual health.

Bring a record of the schedule you actually followed and any medicines you stopped or added. That helps distinguish a treatment issue from an instruction that was unclear or difficult to manage. We adjust the plan with you rather than leave you to experiment.

Ongoing care and refills

Before continuing tadalafil, we check your response, side effects and health changes. For urinary symptoms, we also review whether follow-up examinations or investigations are needed. Tell us if the original reason for treatment has changed or you no longer want a daily medicine.

If another clinic started treatment, share the current prescription and relevant records. We can assess continuing care without assuming that the earlier dose is automatically the best choice now. A recent change in blood pressure, kidney function or another medicine can alter the decision.

Contact us before you run out if you want a refill. We confirm the current strength, schedule and supply after review. If the pharmacy proposes a different product, ask for clarification before taking it, particularly if the directions differ from your previous pack.

Common questions

Can you prescribe Cialis after an online consultation?

We assess suitability online and prescribe when appropriate. We may need an examination, blood pressure reading or further information. Urinary symptoms can require additional assessment before we decide whether tadalafil is the right treatment.

Is tadalafil 5 mg a daily or occasional medicine?

It depends on the prescription. A 5 mg daily schedule is used for some patients with erection difficulties and for BPH symptoms. Do not infer the schedule from tablet strength alone. Follow the directions we give you.

Does the medicine cause an erection for 36 hours?

No. The longer period of activity means that the erection response may be supported during sexual stimulation. It is not a continuous erection. An erection lasting more than four hours needs emergency care.

Can I add Viagra to a daily tadalafil dose?

Do not combine the medicines yourself. Daily tadalafil remains relevant between doses. Tell us if the response is inadequate so we can review the treatment rather than add another PDE5 inhibitor.

Is the listed price for generic tadalafil?

Yes. The starting offer is tadalafil 5mg 30 tablets. Branded Cialis can have a different price. The medication price does not include your doctor visit, and the final prescribed supply is confirmed before purchase.

Can it treat erections and prostate symptoms together?

A daily tadalafil prescription may be appropriate for both concerns in some men. We assess each problem and your current medicines first. Urinary symptoms should not simply be assumed to come from an enlarged prostate.

Can I change from occasional to daily treatment?

Discuss the change with us. The strength and schedule need to be reviewed together, including the timing of your last dose. Do not overlap the schedules or add a daily tablet to an existing occasional prescription.

What should I do if I cannot pass urine?

Seek urgent medical care, particularly if you have lower abdominal pain. Do not take extra tadalafil to try to relieve urinary retention. This needs an assessment beyond a routine prescription review.
